Although I do have to play the Thief games first. And I definitely want to play other games of this kind. Overall, my experience with this game was amazing. It was a fantastic middle ground between classic and cinematic RPGs, but had this game had more budget I would wanted a few more of those scenes and a voiced protagonist. And the personality this gives to them is incredible. This game is isometric-ish, but there are some special dialogues that you have full, extremely datailed models of the character you're talking too. Also I forgot: the ending song that serves as a kind of epilogue and changes depending on your choices is brilliant!Īnother thing that I just want to sort throw here is how cinematic storytelling can have a major impact in RPGs. The highlights were definitely some of the fights when music started playing in the background. Alas there was no Sharpened Helicopter Blade analogue, if they fix this then this game would become legendary indeed. Or a melee characters with chainsaw swords. which of course makes sense but it was extremely satisfying to play as a brawler and punch robots in the face. I created a thread a while back asking for some Beat Em Up suggestions and I don't think anyone mentioned Wasteland 3. There was a lot of flexibility during combat. But I found the many different builds you could have excellent. Nothing near XCOM2 levels, maybe not even Divinity: Original Sin 2. There was no crescendo leading to a great finale. I was always thinking about what I should say next because I knew the outcome could be quite different. Choice and consequence is a big deal in this game and it worked quite well. The same was true for dialogue and even tutorial tips. I ended up reading all item descriptions because it felt there was always something cool there. The RPGs mechanics work pretty well and the game is fantastic. I also missed a respec option in the campaign, as the player is bound to make mistakes and there is no way to fix them.īut that's a detail. But what's better, lockpicking or mechanics? Explosives or Nerd Stuff? You'd just stick with one and hope for the best. ![]() Sure, if you want a character that are good with sniper rifles it makes sense to put points in sniper rifle proficiency. ![]() I felt a bit overwhelmed at first with all the stats and options I had creating my characters, particuarly because it's hard to make informed decisions in this kind of RPG at first. I've never played any "post apocalypse america" RPGs, save for the intro area in Fallout 3, so Wasteland 3 felt like new territory to me. ![]()
